  • What is a collective band?
A collective band, often referred to simply as a "collective," is a unique musical ensemble where the members come together on a project-by-project basis rather than being a fixed, permanent group. It is a flexible and dynamic concept that allows musicians with different backgrounds and styles to collaborate and perform together for specific events or periods.
  • Can we choose which male or female vocalist we have?
No, The Sound Assembly do not offer the option to choose a specific male or female singer. Why can't we choose a specific male or female singer? As a collective band, we pride ourselves on promoting a collaborative and adaptable approach to music. While we understand the desire for personal preferences, our strength lies in our ability to bring together talented musicians who complement each other's styles and create a cohesive and harmonious sound. Rotating our members allows us to maintain versatility and consistently deliver high-quality performances. What if we've seen a particular singer perform with your band and want them for our event? We appreciate you might have enjoyed a specific singer's performance. However, the collective nature of our group means that our lineup may change from project to project. Our commitment is to provide you with an exceptional musical experience, and we assure you that all of our singers are highly skilled and capable of delivering memorable performances.
  • What are the advantages of a collective band?
The collective band model offers several advantages. Firstly, it allows for a rich pool of talent, fostering creativity and fresh ideas by bringing together musicians with diverse influences. Secondly, it enables the band to adapt to different venue sizes, requirements, and musical styles or themes for various events. Lastly, it gives musicians the freedom to pursue other projects without being tied to a single band.
  • How does the booking process work?
Upon receipt of the management fee and a signed contract, FPM Music Management will reach out to our musicians to verify their availability for the specified date. Due to the collective nature of The Sound Assembly, the musicians are only confirmed after the booking has been finalised.
  • Are we guaranteed the musicians in the pictures and videos?
FPM Music Management will always endeavour to send the band members pictured on our website to your wedding or event. If any of the members aren’t free due to prior commitments, FPM will send a suitable replacement from a large pool of professional musicians. These musicians are used to playing with one another and have a wealth of experience in the wedding and events sector. The pictures and videos on our website are there to give you an example of what you can expect when hiring us. This is how most collective bands in the UK run and operate.
  • Can we use your PA system for speeches?
Typically, speeches are over by the time we arrive. However, if you need to use our PA system, we can arrange this for a small fee. Please let us know in advance so we can make the necessary arrangements.
  • What areas of the UK do you cover?
At The Sound Assembly, we bring our live performances to events across the South West. Whether in Devon, Somerset, Gloucestershire, or Dorset, we'd be honoured to contribute to your memorable occasion.
  • Can we choose the live setlist?
Unfortunately not, we take pride in curating a setlist that connects with every guest, ensuring a seamless flow of energy during the performance.
  • Do you have insurance, and is your equipment PAT-tested?
Absolutely! We are fully insured, offering an added layer of protection and security for our clients. Additionally, all of our equipment undergoes PAT testing, ensuring it adheres to necessary safety standards.
  • When do you start and finish?
We guarantee a smooth setup and performance, the band arrive on site at 6pm and services will conclude at midnight. Our goal is to create a lively atmosphere and deliver an unforgettable experience for the duration of your event.
  • Is our booking secure?
Certainly! Once you finalise your event's requirements, we'll promptly send you our terms & conditions/contract, ensuring clarity regarding the agreement between both parties. This contract acts as a legally binding document, providing peace of mind for all involved.
  • How far in advance should we book The Sound Assembly?
We recommend booking as early as possible. It's advisable you reserve your date at least a year in advance, especially for peak dates. However, feel free to inquire about our availability even if your wedding date is approaching soon.
